Bannon This hands-on instructional workshop with John Bannon, former teaching assistant at the Louvre for twelve years, will be held at suitable landscape locations with daily critique at the end of each painting day. In the event of inclement weather painting exercises will take place in the studio. Topics covered will include painting materials, equipment, techniques, and aesthetic goals. Participants should be in good physical condition and fully capable of hiking, carrying own gear and traversing hilly and uneven terrain. John Bannon
holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute of Art as well as a MFA from the
University of Pennsylvania in the history and practice of painting. For
twelve years he was the protégé of M. Jacques Maroger, former
technical director of the Louvre laboratories, and expert in the drawing
and painting techniques of the old masters. John assisted in teaching
artistic anatomy and in reconstruction of the lost painting formulas of
the Renaissance and Baroque masters. A member of the Oil Painters of America,
he has presented forty-two solo exhibits and has taught art for more than
fifty years in the United States and abroad. His works are included in
the permanent collections at the Pennsylvania Academy, Philadelphia, PA“,
The Pentagon, Washington, DC., The Superior Court, Washington, DC., and
the Dan Daniel Distribution Center, Newport News, VA, the Corcoran Gallery,
Washington, DC to name a few. Painted commissioned portraits include Pope
John XXIII, and General and Chief of Staff George C. Marshall. |
